Did you say...Frugal Friday?

Wendy , from The Shabby Nest, is having a linky party,
Frugal Friday

I didn't have to think too long and hard for some frugalness, so
I present to you our well used chalk board.
This, I made from an old fence we had torn down. My inspiration was from barn board items I had seen. These old fence boards have that look which only time and outside elements can create.
I first painted a piece of 1/4" scrap board with black chalk board paint.
Next step was to cut the pieces of fence board, The outside ends are left ragged.
These pieces were just screwed from behind to the painted board.

I added a finial, chalk board brush and chalk.

  1. Love the rustic look of that frame! Some day, we want to do that in our little German apartment. Well we as in me so far! Haven't quite mentioned it to the husband yet. Need to soften him up...

  2. The old wood looks great! Definitely fits in with the barn wood stuff out there. Love it!

  3. I LOVE IT! Great job!!!!!

  4. I love all things rustic. Great job. Initially I thought it was some sort of old barn door. You had me fooled :)

  5. That's so creative! We just had a new fence built; if only I saved some pieces! Great idea

  6. Love this idea. You just gave me some inspiration for a wall in my laundry room.

  7. I like your closeup on the word chores! I wish that my kids would do them without me having to ask them 10 times:)

  8. What a wonderful idea! I love it!
